The story

Los Angeles, 1947. Constance Remson, young, rich and well connected, hires Joe Ezell to keep an eye on the man she is seeing, the celebrated cellist Matteo de Milano, whose affairs are famous for being short and heated. Joe finds the musician dead, killed with a stiletto heel.

Constance then asks Joe to find out who did it. Any of a long line of beautiful women de Milano dropped could have turned rejection into murder, and it takes an unexpected insight for Joe to bring the killer to justice and earn a little of the respect he has been short of.

About this book

Murder on Stilettos was released on October 16, 2018 as the fourth Detective Joe Ezell mystery under the name P.J. Conn. The author's site spelled the title Murder On Stillettos in its page address and heading, which is why the old link keeps that spelling. The publisher's note on the page places the series with cozy and classic whodunit mysteries in the spirit of Sam Spade and Humphrey Bogart: the charm of film noir without the drugs, sex and beatings.

Questions people ask

Why is the old address spelled Stillettos?
The original site used that spelling in the page slug and heading. The book itself is Murder on Stilettos, and the series list on the site spells it that way.
Is this a hard-boiled noir?
The publisher's note says it is not a true noir or hard-boiled mystery; it keeps the film-noir atmosphere while staying clean and wholesome.
