The story
Ana Santillan is at a crossroads. She is mourning her lover, the famed matador Miguel Aragon, and numb to any thought of love. A tall, willowy fashion model who has worked since childhood, she is weighing a switch to photography. To avoid fans she dresses in black punk garb on Sundays and drifts anonymously through Barcelona's cafes, and it is in that disguise that she meets Alejandro Vasquez, who says he is an architecture student.
Alejandro guards his privacy as closely as Ana does hers, and does not mention that he is heir to a shipping fortune. When she is hurt in a car accident he claims to be her husband to speed her treatment, and when she wakes with a hazy memory he lets the lie stand. Once she learns how easily he deceived her, she leaves. With a dangerous admirer stalking Ana, Alejandro sets out to protect her and to prove he would be a worthy husband if she would make the marriage real.
