The story
At the edge of her father's property Lyse Shelby finds Buck Warren, wounded, and agrees to nurse him back to health in secret on one condition: he takes her with him when he goes. Buck is hunting the man who killed his best friend and has no time for a damsel in distress, or for love.
That suits Lyse. She wants only enough help to escape her abusive father and build a life of her own. But as Buck closes in on the murderer, Lyse finds that the new life she wanted is not much of a prize without the man she loves.
