The story
A half-naked blonde falls from a ladder of knotted bed-sheets straight into Marc Aragon's arms, and she has no memory of who she is. Marc, an experienced sea captain with no time for love, helps the escapee from San Francisco's most expensive brothel and names her April.
Then someone recognizes April as Genevieve Le Sage, a popular actress and the wife of a notorious gambler with more than one ace up his sleeve. As Marc dutifully sets out to find Genevieve's missing husband, she discovers something unexpected: there is no greater passion, no sweeter ecstasy than true love.

Published in 1990, No Sweeter Ecstasy is the second book in the Hearts of California series, which follows the Aragon family of San Francisco.
