The story
Star pilot Kara DeLeon makes an emergency landing on a former penal colony, now peopled by the descendants of outlaws. Obeying standing orders she stays at the crash site, and is captured by Aiden, the captain of the guard. Instead of killing her on sight or handing her to the city leaders, he hides her in his home.
Only marriage, an impossible bond between two people so different, will let Aiden protect Kara from the city's hatred. Perhaps death would be the kinder choice, if he could only let her go.
