The story
Gabrielle MacLaren sets out on the Oregon Trail intending to become a mail-order bride, but the scout Jason Royal is the only man she can imagine marrying. Jason's duty is to deliver a wagon train of brides to Oregon, and he loses his heart on the way.
Adventure is all he has ever loved, and a wife is the last thing he wants. The book follows several love stories at once, giving life, as the author put it, to the bold women who brought civilization to America's frontier.
